- Antonio: The merchant of Venice. Did not like Shylock. Spit on Shylock.
- Bassanio: The handsome young merchant. Needs money to marry the beautiful princess.
- Princess: The beautiful princess.
- Money: The young merchant asks Antonio to lend him money so he could marry the
- beautiful princess.
- Ship: Loaded with goods arriving soon.
- Contract: Unusual agreement.
- Lightning bolt and ship upside down: A terrible storm. All is lost.
- Shylock and Antonio: In court–demands revenge.
- Money and Bassanio: Offers two and three times the loan amount. Shylock says “No! No! No!”
- Antonio: Asks for mercy. Shylock says “No!” Wants revenge–pound of flesh.
- Knife: Judge says “Stop!”
- Shylock: “O.K. I’ll take the money.” Judge says “No!” Too late! No money. No revenge. Lost face.
