1. Shylock: The greedy foreign money lender.
2. Antonio: The merchant of Venice. Did not like Shylock. Spit on Shylock.
3. Bassanio: The handsome young merchant. Needs money to marry the beautiful princess.
4. Princess: The beautiful princess.
5. Money: The young merchant asks Antonio to lend him money so he could marry the
6. beautiful princess.
7. Ship: Loaded with goods arriving soon.
8. Contract: Unusual agreement.
9. Lightning bolt and ship upside down: A terrible storm. All is lost.
10. Shylock and Antonio: In court–demands revenge.
11. Money and Bassanio: Offers two and three times the loan amount. Shylock says “No! No! No!”
12. Antonio: Asks for mercy. Shylock says “No!” Wants revenge–pound of flesh.
13. Knife: Judge says “Stop!”
14. Shylock: “O.K. I’ll take the money.” Judge says “No!” Too late! No money. No revenge. Lost face.
